Whats A Typical Day In The Navy Like

Like all of the other branches, a typical day in the Navy will depend heavily on what your rate is and where youre stationed.

For arguments sake, lets take the typical day of a popular rating in the Navy: Boatswains Mate .

Assuming he or she is on a ship, a normal day could look something like this:

0600 0745: Wake up, shower, get dressed, eat breakfast.

0745 0800: Muster. Youll gather around with your fellow sailors and discuss the days work ahead.

0800 1200: Go to work. For a BM, this can range from things like painting the outside of the ship, to standing watch on the bridge of the ship.

Which Branch Of The Military Has The Best Benefits

Pin by Katie Jane on Meaningful

The Marines, Coast Guard, and Space Force are the branches of the military that have the best benefits. They also are the branches of the military that have the best pay.

Nearly all branches of the military pay new recruits relatively the same pay ranges and benefits plans. However, these three branches have a slight leg up on the others.

The Marines provide a full benefits package that includes salary, medical insurance, housing, vacation time, and other common benefits. A crucial benefit is the career skills one can develop when joining the Marines. These include things like discipline, leadership, and honor.

Coast Guard

The Coast Guard offers many of the same benefits but also includes 30 days of paid vacation to their benefits package. The Coast Guard is also a great option for those who want to be stationed domestically for service.

Space Force

The Space Force offers Guardians and their families premier benefits, including extremely low-rate insurance plans and full pay and allowances for sick leave. Perhaps the biggest benefit of the Space Force is that someone who has worked in the Space Force has the opportunity to then work in the private aerospace industry. Jobs in this sector can be extremely lucrative.

History Of The United States Military Branches

People tend to think of the United States as not starting until 1776 at the very earliest, but the military was one step ahead. As a way to protect the colonies interests against the British right before the War for Independence, rebel leaders started the U.S. Continental Army in June 1775. The Continental Navy began in October 1775, followed shortly thereafter by the Continental Marines in November. The Coast Guard came along in 1790, after the United States had officially become its own nation. The need for these services rose because of Britains world-class, large Navy. Given that most of the early colonies relied on coastal seaports for survival, much less trade, the ability to defend against the British was paramount.

The latest branches of the U.S. Armed Service relate specifically to the air. The Air Force actually began in 1907, shortly after the invention of aircraft. It became its own division in 1947, separate from the Army. The last is the U.S. Space Force, an air-based service focused on the protection of U.S. interests from above. It was created in 2019.

Not So Cool Jobs In The Marines

Like most other branches, the Marines have their fair share of jobs that are considered the worst.

However, unlike the Navy, Army, or Air Force, theyre considered the worst for different reasons than you might think.

As I mentioned earlier, most guys join the Marines for one key reason: to see combat.

If you end up doing the following jobs, theres a good chance you will be nowhere near the fight:

Things To Consider When Choosing A Military Branch To Join

Which Branch of the Military Should I Join?

In the early 1980s I was a troubling-making teen growing up preoccupied with cars, girls and partying. My grades in high school were awful and my motivation for things that required effort was pretty low. I was just out for a good time.

Sometime during my senior year in high school, a good friend told me that he was enlisting in the U.S. Army. Joining the military seemed like a good idea to me, a kid with few options who was ranked almost last in his graduating high school class.

Near my home there was an Armed Forces recruiting center and every branch of service had an office there. I went to the recruiting center and I visited my friends Army recruiter first. I didnt need to be convinced. I needed some type of life after high school and this seemed like a way out for me. I knew I wanted to join the military because my friend had given me the sales pitch about steady money, free meals and healthcare.

Let me be honest. I did not go to the military recruiters because I had always wanted to serve and certainly not because I was a patriot. I wanted to enlist because I had no options that interested me. The one thing I knew was that I needed to leave home and start my life.

The meeting with the Army recruiter went well, but for some reason, it didnt hit the right note for me. That night, I asked myself, which branch of the military should I join as I laid in bed? I didnt really know a lot about the services, so I figured I could check them all out.
