The Quest 2 version of Resident Evil 4, for example, is the finest way to experience Capcoms survival horror shooter. Its harrowing enough to barricade a small house against angry villagers, experiencing the same in VR takes things to a whole new level.
Then theres Vader Immortal which, while it doesnt have you playing as the infamous Sith Lord, is a fun foray into the Star Wars universe. The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners is another stand-out title dispatching zombies then realizing how badly youve let yourself get outnumbered is quite something. And Beat Saber, while its not billed as such, is a great musical work-out.
There are also social apps and, aside from just chatting in VR, you can watch movies with other people and share your gameplay. Although we dabbled in some of these, none of them kept us engaged once the initial novelty wore off.

Should You Buy The Meta Quest 2
If youre looking for standalone VR gaming, or youre a newcomer to the world of virtual reality, you should buy the Meta Quest 2. Being able to play PCVR games is a bonus but its the Quest 2s standalone support that makes it shine.
Theres no way round the price rise, though purchasers get Beat Saber free till the end of the year but unless youre planning on filling it with movies, the cheaper 128GB Meta Quest 2 should be enough for most.

Yes, there will be a Meta Quest 3, but current speculation suggests it will not launch until at least 2023.
In between that, another piece of VR hardware has been announced by Meta that’s being developed under the name Project Cambria. Rather than the Meta Quest 3, this looks to be a higher-end VR and AR hybrid that’s tied in more closely with Facebook’s push towards a ‘metaverse’. Are The Oculus Quest And Oculus Rift S Discontinued
In April 2021, Facebook announced it would no longer manufacture the Oculus Rift S and instead focus on the wireless Quest experience. Six months before that, the company also discontinued the production of the original Oculus Quest. That means the only VR headset in the range available to buy today is the Meta Quest 2.
In the time since production ceased on the Rift S and original Quest, a number of retailers reduced the price of these older devices to clear any remaining inventory. Checking today, neither are in stock brand new so you’re only option is to go second-hand for these devices.
However, given that the Meta Quest 2 is the only one with current support – and that the price is around the same as the discontinued devices – we’d strongly encourage you to go with the latest VR headset instead. It’ll be kinder on your wallet and give you a better overall VR experience.
