The National MilitaryFamily Association serves the families of active, retired,wounded, and fallen members of all military branches. The association aims tostrengthen and protect families through advocacy efforts and programs such asspouse scholarships, camps for military kids, and retreats for families.
2. How will NMFA help me?
Since1969, NMFA has advocated for military familybenefits. NMFA also supports military families through a variety of programsand services, including:
- Military Spouse Scholarship Program. Offers funding and scholarships to military spouses to help them pursue an education or career.
- Operation Purple Program. Provides free camps and wilderness retreats to military children and families, including Guard families, to encourage bonding and meaningful connections through outdoor activities and communication workshops.

Umgc Offers A Scholarship To Active
Through the UMGC-NMFA Scholarship program, University of Maryland Global Campus awards a minimum of 10 scholarships, worth up to $1,500 each, through the National Military Family Association to spouses of active-duty, Reservist, and/or National Guard servicemembers.
This scholarship program is made possible through a generous grant from UMGC alumna Lt. Col. Dona Hildebrand .
Eligible applicants must be current or newly enrolled students who have earned no more than 30 credits and are seeking their first undergraduate degree at UMGC. The scholarship will cover up to two full courses .

Write Her Future Scholarship Powered By Lancme
The Write Her Future Scholarship powered by Lancôme is one of many funding opportunities available to Black students and students of color through the NAACP Inspire Initiatives. Each quarter, The Major Group partners with military spouse organizations to bring a scholarship opportunity to all military spouses. There are no rank restrictions and this program is open to spouses of National Guard, Reserve and active duty of all branches. What Are My Additional Requirements
Scholarship recipients will be asked to make sure their Required Forms Application is up to date with the correct information. Winners will also be required to submit a photo and thank you letter that we can provide our donors. Photos should be family photos, work photos, head shots or something similar.

The High School Senior and Second Chance Contests have ended. AFSA will unveil a new scholarship contest in 2023. AFSA is proud of the success of its High School Senior and Second Chance scholarship contests. Since the programs creation in 1996, AFSAs contests have sought to promote the scholarship outside of the fire sprinkler industry in the hope of reaching students who may otherwise never have recognized the importance of automatic fire protection.
AFSAs Public Education & Awareness Committee has voted to redirect the existing scholarship contest to a new contest geared towards those students interested in a design career in the fire protection industry.
The new contest will aim to recruit and train beginning fire sprinkler system designers by awarding scholarships to attend AFSAs Beginning Design School. The application, eligibility requirements, and other details will be posted on this site in the coming months. The first scholarships will be awarded in 2023.

Thankfully, there are schools that help military spouses pursue their goals even if they are not living in the U.S. I was able to enroll in UMUC night and online classes on post, which allowed me to continue working at the day job I loved. Another major challenge for many spouses is attending school when they have children and their spouse is either deployed or away for training. Most military families are not stationed close enough to rely on extended family for childcare and support, so schools like UMUC, which offer a wide variety of online and late-night courses, are so important.

The NAACP x Society Awards Scholarship is awarded to students interested in pursuing a career in the visual/performing arts field including film, theatre, fashion, photography, graphic design, dance, music, journalism, and mass communications. We will award three scholarships totaled to $8,000 to recipients with a GPA of 3.0 or higher.

Nmfa Now Accepting Applications For Military Spouse Scholarships
The National Military Family Association is accepting applications for NMFAs Joanne Holbrook Patton Military Spouse Scholarships. Scholarships are awarded to military spouses to obtain professional certification or to attend post secondary or graduate school.Applications will only be accepted online at www.nmfa.org/scholarship. Spouses of Uniformed Service members of any branch or rank are eligible to apply. Scholarships normally range from $500 to $1,000 and may be used for tuition, fees, and school room and board.Through a new partnership with the Military Channel, NMFA has expanded the Joanne Holbrook Patton Military Spouse Scholarship Program in 2007 to provide additional scholarships to a larger number of deserving military spouses. Learn How The National Military Family Association Helps Military Families Stand Strong And Thrive
In the summer of 2020, during his familys PCS relocating for his fathers next station of duty in the Army John, an elementary-aged kid, attended Operation Purple, a free, week-long camp made possible by the National Military Family Association. Because they were driving across country, he attended camp each day from the way-way back in his familys car. Instead of tallying license plates or playing endless word games with his siblings, John joined camp on his computer attending Nature Club, making art projects, embracing Lego challenges, and even joining dance parties from his seat. John, like many military children, has had to make many sacrifices in his young life moving frequently, having to say goodbye to best friends, teachers, and coaches, and adapting to new schools and neighborhoods. But, in turn, being part of a military family has also made him strong and resilient.
Kids like John and parents like Ms. Duttweiler need and deserve undue support and empowerment. After all, their love and support are what nourish their loved ones as they serve our country.

The National Military Family Association is an organization with strong grassroots support balanced with professionalism that makes us a leader in the field. Not only do we support military families we are military families. Spouses, parents, and family members make up our staff and board positions. We speak up on behalf of military families and empower husbands, wives, and children to understand and access their benefits. Our members tell us we meet the needs of service members and their families with insightful recommendations, innovative programs, and grassroots efforts to better the quality of life for military families.
In 1969, the National Military Family Association was founded by a handful of military wives who wanted to make sure their widowed friends were properly taken care of. Two short years later, the Survivor Benefit Plan became law, and the Association has been hard at work ever since.
