First of all, you have to measure your neck. Put the measuring tape around your neck and check the measurement of your whole round neck. You should not compress your neck otherwise, the measurement will not be accurate.
Measure your waist, which is an important part of your weight because of the large levels of body fat in this region. Put the measuring tape around your waist and carefully measure the size of your abdomen. Make sure the tape stays smooth against the skin, and the soft tissue does not get a pinch.
Body fat percentage also depends on your height. Measure your full height with a measuring tape. You can measure your height by standing against a wall. Stand against a wall without wearing any shoe and mark the place where your head ends. The floor should be smooth where you will stand to measure your height. Use the measuring tape to check your height by measuring the distance between the mark and the floor.
Enter these measured values in our army body fat calculator, or you can also use available body fat evaluation formulas to check your body fat percentage manually. It would be very convenient to use our online calculator because calculating your body fat using formulas is a complex task.
If your body fat is more than the U.S military standards as mentioned above, and you are trying to join the army or have a specific goal, consult an expert to lower your body fat.

Helps To Produce A More Effective Force
The army uses this height and weight requirement to ensure they are getting the best people who can perform specific tasks in the military. It is an essential part of training the soldiers, helping them become influential because they can use these standards as a benchmark for their training and combat readiness performance.
The army is not only making it possible for people of certain heights and weights to be a part of the military but can also reduce their costs by not funding these people. It makes them more effective as a group because they will not waste resources on useless individuals who only come in during specific emergencies. The soldiers would be efficient when they have fewer people in the group, especially if the size of the force is small.
It would be the case in a war or during the training of soldiers. They would need to focus only on preparing their soldiers for combat, nothing else. It is why they would not waste money on people who are just not fit for duty or who will be useless during actual action, especially in wartime.
The army will also have an effective force because they have reduced the number of people to fund and save on. It means they can pay for the soldiers who are needed. They do not have to spend on people who will not be helpful during wartime.
What Is The Body Fat Percentage
It represents the total mass of fat divided by the total body mass and it includes essential body fat and the reserves of fat. What needs to be noted is that women have a higher percentage of essential fat then men at around 8-11% compared to only 3-5%. The reserve fat is found in the adipose tissue as accumulation or as the layer of fat protecting the intern organs.
There are certain scientific methods in which to measure this value but it can also be calculated quickly through the height and weight as it represents a measure of the fitness level. BMI is often used to assess it but there are also other indicators that produce more accurate results.
Both when joining and after entry this is an indicator assessed thus army employees have to keep a balanced diet and lifestyle and by case follow a weight loss/gain plan meant to ensure an ideal/healthy weight level.

Body Fat Vs Body Mass For New Recruits
According to US Army Recruiting, body mass is defined as the amount of body a Military man has as compared to their total body weight.
The Army has height and weight standards , and if you surpass those prerequisites, you could still meet the criteria by staying under the defined fat mass for your age on the basis of benchmarks.
In addition, the Army estimates its applicants to assist in calculating the percentage and to demonstrate recruits techniques that could assist in monitoring effectiveness in addressing the enrollment and designing requirements in this area.
The Army takes its recruitment and selection benchmarks very seriously. How intense is it? Many may believe that it is simply a matter of meeting current standards and then discontinuing the workout routine once they have fulfilled benchmarks.
However, according to AR-900, any trainee who joins active-military service and screws up to keep fitness requirements within six months might be required to participate in the Army Body Composition Program , an absolutely required monitored and controlled fitness regimen for individuals who fail to keep fitness requirements.
What Is The Military Tape Test

The organization requires all soldiers to maintain specific health and fitness standards to meet sufficient severity. And body fat is one of the most vital physical measurements they should keep.
There are different ways to measure body fat percentage. The most popular of these methods is the Body Mass Index . The formula for BMI is weight of body in kg divided by height in meters squared. The following tables define the standard BMI in the Army:
However, the military tape test will have its own measurements for body fat percentage. Accordingly, they will measure the circumference around the neck and two points at the abdomen.
