Serving E1 to E6, the Watkins Terrace community features homes equipped with central air, a refrigerator, a stove, and a dishwasher.The Fort Sam Houston Housing Community is divided into three housing villages, each with its own community center and housing office. Community centers feature a large pool, playground, and resident center.
Housing At Fort Sam Houston
Since Ft. Sam Houston is part of the larger Joint Base San Antonio footprint, Army families can expect to work with the Air Force for housing needs. All service members need to report to the Military Housing Office on arrival to receive guidance about the current housing landscape.
Its also important to speak with the MHO because there are several duty locations at Ft. Sam and each assignment has different options available.
No matter where you work, your choices for housing are varied and exciting. Family housing is offered by Balfour Beatty. This private company owns and operates six distinct neighborhoods on and near the base. Some neighborhoods are for enlisted service members only others are for officers only.

Housing InformationThe military provides two options for the use of your Basic Allowance For Housing The first option is living on post. Your second option is using your BAH to rent or buy a home off post. We provide you with military friendly information to help you maximize your BAH.
- The Housing Management Office 295-8539/8564/8569/8635. Contact the HMO as soon as you know you are moving. You will be provided with the latest information on local housing as well as referral services and relocation assistance. They offer counseling and guidance before entering into a lease agreement and help resolve tenant-landlord disputes.
Fort Sam Houston On Post Housing

The Unaccompanied Housing Office 221-0190/2087 – Brenner Barracks 916-1134/1156 – Okubo Barracks or 221-2087 – NCO Barracks. Unaccompanied housing is reserved for Single Soldiers with a pay grade of E5 or below.

Fort Sam-Houston on-post housing is privatized and managed by Lincoln Military Housing 270-7638, which offers 9 communities based on pay grade and family size. The housing options range from 2-5 bedroom townhomes and single family residences. Community amenities include: pool, fitness center, playgrounds and more.

Housing InformationBasic Allowance For Housing gives active service members two options for housing living on post or finding a home off-post within the community.
- All relocating soldiers must first contact the Military Personnel Branch 916-7398/6864 once orders are received. They can answer all of your housing questions and assist with In-Processing procedures.
Brooke Army Medical Center On Post Housing
- All Single and Unaccompanied Soldiers will need to check in with their 1st Sgt. located in Building 3642 during regular hours, or Building 3631C, OKUBO with the Staff Duty NCO on weekends and holidays.
- On-post housing is not available at Brooke Army Medical Center, but may be availble at Joint Base Sam-Houston. Contact Lincoln Military Housing 270-7638 to ask about their requirements, process and availablity for your rank and family size.

Hunt Heroes Foundation , the non-profit organization founded by Hunt Military Communities , is pleased to announce the winners of its fourth annual Hunt Heroes Foundation Scholarship for dependents of active duty military members. This year, HMC committed $50,000 to give to deserving students who are seeking ongoing educational opportunities. Ft Sam Houston History
Way back in 1845, the Army established a garrison at San Antonio. About 25 years later, the Army started construction on the Quadrangle. Garrison was moved to the site a few years later. In 1890, Ft. Sam Houston was officially named for Gen. Sam Houston. Houston was the hero of the battle of San Jacinto and the first president of the Republic of Texas in 1890.
Ft. Sam is massive and it plays a vital role in the nations defense. Its also home to some of the oldest structures on any Army post. These days, nearly 40,000 active duty and DoD civilians call Ft. The privatization of Fort Sam Houston housing took effect on March 1, 2005. The Partnership, between the Department of the Army and Hunt Military Communities , is called Fort Sam Houston Family Housing, LP , which owns and operates military housing on post. The goal of the public-private partnership is to eliminate inadequate housing and provide Soldiers and their families with improved homes and high quality community and recreational amenities. The FSHFH partnership will construct, improve, and maintain Fort Sam Houston family housing for the next 50 years, and assume responsibility and control over every aspect of family housing operations on post. Property management services are provided by Hunt Military Communities. The Fort Sam Houston Army Housing Office provides oversight of HMC.
