- Carry out demolition raids against enemy military targets, such as bridges, railroads and fuel depots
- Employ warfare tactics and techniques in infantry operations

Special Forces Captains Career Course
As of Financial Year 2016 , officer candidates who successfully complete the SFAS course will PCS to Fort Bragg to attend the ARSOF common core . .
Phase I of the Special Forces Captains Career Course , is known as the Special Operations Forces Officer Common Core and is 12-weeks in duration .
There are typically 8 courses per year, with 48 candidates per course .
The course utilises a curriculum approved by the School for Advanced Leadership and Tactics, and TRADOC, as well as manoeuvre lessons.
Following selection for promotion to the rank of Captain , officers normally attend the branch Captains Career Course . This is typically the second major branch school officers attend before company-level command. The branch CCC has two phases:

- Category I/II: French, Indonesian-Bahasa and Spanish and
- Category III/IV: Arabic, Chinese, Mandarin, Czech, Dari, Hungarian, Korean, Pashto, Persian, Farsi, Polish, Russian, Tagalog, Thai, Turkish, Urdu and Pasto.
Candidates receive instruction in three basic language skills:
The following areas of emphasis are covered during this phase of training:
- Overview of physical and social systems
- Infrastructure and technology information and
- Culture and regional studies.
Language instruction focuses on functional application geared toward mission-related tasks, enhanced rapport-building techniques, cultural mitigation strategies, interpreting and control of interpreter methods.
To successfully complete Phase V, candidates must achieve a minimum Inter-agency Language Roundtable in listening and speaking as measured by the two-skill Oral Proficiency Interview .

Air Force Physical Requirements
The Air Force Physical Fitness Testwhich the service overhauled in 2013requires the following exercises: push-ups for one minute, sit-ups for one minute, and a 1.5-mile timed run. Though the Air Force calls their abdominal exercise “sit-ups,” they are actually crunches, if you define sit-ups as placing inter-locked hands behind your head. The Air Force sit-up is the same exercise as the Navy crunch.

Us Army Special Forces Job Classifications
US Army Special Forces personnel are identified by the Military Occupational Speciality designation 18X as per their qualifications:
- 18A: Special Forces Officer: Commander or team leader of a Special Forces Operational Detachment-Alpha , a highly trained 12-man team that is deployed in rapid-response situations. Officer organise the mission, outfit the team and debrief them on the mission objective.

What Jobs Fall Under The 18x Designation
The enlistment code MOS 18X applies to your Delayed Entry Program status.
It allows you the opportunity to explore the Military Occupational Specialities of special forces.
The status enables you to depart for One Station Unit Training along with other specialty schools.
OSUT training for MOS 18X gets divided between new recruits and existing active-duty soldiers.
Active-duty personnel may request a transfer to attend Special Forces Assessment and SelectiON .
Meanwhile, new recruits select MOS 18X pre-enlistment to help speed up the SF pipeline.

Phase I of the SFQC is Introduction to Unconventional Warfare, is 6-weeks in duration and separated into five modules. In the past, it has been known as Course Orientation, Course Orientation and History, and as the Special Forces Orientation Course.
There are typically 6 courses per year, with 240 candidates per course , which are delivered by 4th Battalion, 1st Special Warfare Training Group .

Special Forces Phase 2
Phase 2 combines small-unit tactics and survival, evasion, resistance and escape training. Soldiers will begin with more small-unit tactics on the squad and platoon levels and be tested in weapons marksmanship. The learning curve is steep in this five-week phase. After SUT, the next three weeks will focus on survival training, avoiding capture, resisting enemy interrogations and exploitations, and escaping captivity.

How Do I Become A Special Operations Soldier
Enlisted Soldiers must first qualify and then be selected to join Special Operations. Requirements vary within each of the five units, but can include things like qualifying for a security clearance or having an ASVAB placement test score above 100. After qualifying, Soldiers begin rigorous mental, physical, and technical training that can take between several months to over a year to complete. Due to the difficulty, some Soldiers dont make it past training and instead get placed in a related job within the regular Army.
How To Prepare For Army Green Beret Training
If you want to wear the green beret of the Army Special Forces, be warned: It takes more than the ability to do hundreds of push-ups. To make it in the Special Forces of any branch of the U.S. military, you need intelligence, an outstanding record of previous military service and very high motivation. But now, a new program will enable you to go straight to the Special Forces Assessment and Selection after Army Boot Camp — skipping the three-year wait. Getting Into SFAS
The first step to wearing the green beret is to pass the SFAS course. To get into this course, you must meet some basic physical fitness requirements by scoring a minimum of 260 on the Army physical fitness test for the 17-21 age group. Remember, that’s the minimum score.
If you’re serious about applying for Special Forces, however, never settle for the minimum score in anything. Since the Green Berets are so selective and competitive, it helps to stand out in as many areas as you can. I recommend that you work toward these goals in your Army PFT:

Special Forces Assessment And Selection Course
In the 2019 budget year, more than 3,000 soldiers showed up for the assessment phase, with 936 passing and going on to the qualification course. Of those, about 70 percent graduated and donned the Green Beret..
The Special Forces Assessment and Selection course is 19-days in duration , down from 24-days , and is delivered by the Support Battalion, 1st Special Warfare Training Group , located at Fort Bragg in North Carolina.
There are typically 10 courses per year, with 350 candidates per course .
Although selection by training attrition has proved to work, it can be extremely wasteful. . High attrition rates on the Special Forces Qualification Course during the 1980s provided the impetus for change. After a year of working with the US Army Research Institute, the SFAS course was first delivered in 1988 .
Simply put, the SFAS course is designed to reliably predict successful completion of the Special Forces Qualification Course and subsequent service with the US Armys Special Forces.
